TMJ Disorder

TMJ disorder is a group of symptoms which involve the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), teeth, surrounding muscles, ligaments and nerves.

Patients experiencing symptoms of TMJ disorders (TMD) may have an imbalance in their bite and the supporting structures, including the jaw muscles.

Overuse or improper function can result in tooth problems, facial discomfort due to muscle overactivity, and pain linked to degeneration of the jaw joint (TMJ).

TMJ disorder causes may be from dental or medical origins. Diagnosing and treating TMJ may sometimes require medical referrals and/or consultations.
